Butterfly Conservation Video

The Challenge

Butterfly Conservation was eager to promote its Prestbury Hill Reserve, which hugs the steep slopes of Gloucestershire’s iconic Cleeve Common, deep in the beautiful Cotswold countryside. It also needed broadcast quality video of butterflies and their habitat to satisfy requests from the media.

Our Solution

We wanted to tell the human story behind the conservation of butterflies on the Prestbury Hill Reserve, an area of outstanding natural beauty popular with residents of nearby Cheltenham. After consulting Butterfly Conservation, we decided to film the site over an entire year, documenting the volunteers, the public who use the site for leisure and the wildlife that calls the reserve its home, including, of course, the butterflies.
Still in production, we released an early edit to support Butterfly Conservation’s Save our Butterflies Week. The finished video will be released in the summer of 2013.

The Client

Butterfly Conservation is a charity that has raised awareness of the drastic decline in butterflies and moths, and created widespread acceptance that action needs to be taken. It has grown to become probably the largest insect conservation organisation in the world, with a membership of almost 18,000.
