The Challenge

The winter season can be a tricky time for hotel brands with the threat of occupancy peaks and troughs.

Our Solution

Christmas gives occupancy rates a huge boost during winter, but the festive season is short-lived and not celebrated by everyone. The Rocco Forte Hotels team wanted to harmonise demand across the entire season.

We developed a fun, competition-led site – Rocco Forte’s Winter’s Tale – with an entertaining narrative that could be enjoyed by all ages and faiths. At the heart of the site was the tale of a travelling Elk called Rudy, who was often mistaken for a reindeer. Rudy’s journey took him on a voyage of discovery from one Rocco Forte hotel to the next.

To maintain interest we rolled out Rocco Forte’s Winter’s Tale in twelve episodes that spanned the entire winter calendar. Each week, visitors to the site could win a 6-night stay at three of their Rocco Forte hotels and enjoy an amazing adventure just like Rudy’s.

The site was developed in five languages. It proved a huge success, with Rocco Forte Hotels reporting an uplift in business YOY.

The Client

Every Rocco Forte Hotels property is individual – each has its own personality, and each is authentic to its city. All are landmarks, both old and new, occupying magnificent buildings in exceptional locations. Currently, the portfolio numbers 11 properties.
